Children’s Church Mission/Vision and Goals
 
Our Mission Statement: Children becoming Disciples of Christ as they grow healthy in their spirit, soul and body.
 
 Our Vision Statement: Children loving God, loving others and loving themselves.
 
Our Goals:
·         To present the Word of God in an exciting, caring, cutting edge environment.
 
·         To love, care and serve children as we lead them into a relationship with Christ.
 
·         To help each child become a victorious, productive Christian in a diverse society.
 
·         To provide a safe, secure and loving environment for children where parents feel comfortable trusting us with their children.
 
·         To provide a variety of fun, wholesome activities for children and their families.
 
 
Children’s Ministry Volunteer Qualifications
 
1.       Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior (John 3:16).
 
2.      Meet requirements listed in 1 Timothy 3.
 
3.      Have teachable spirit (proverbs 1:5).
 
4.      Be humble, not prideful (1 Peter 5:5).
 
5.      Be willing to submit (Hebrews 13:17).
 
6.      Have a heart to minister to children (Matthew 19:14).
 
7.      Be an active member of Jones Memorial UMC or another UMC for at least six months or longer.
 
8.      Must be able to make a one year commitment (Proverbs 28:20).
 
9.      Must be faithful and loyal to the leadership of Jones Memorial UMC.
 
10.   Must be faithful to assigned areas of ministry and willing to serve in any of the Children’s Ministry areas when asked.
 
11.    Attend services regularly.
 
12.   Be neat in appearance and dress appropriately.
 
13.   Must be 18 years or older
 
14.   Must complete the required Safe Sanctuary class and yearly review.
 
Responsibilities of Volunteers
 
1.       All volunteers must report ½ hour before scheduled service time and 1 hour before a scheduled event. 
 
2.      Pray for the children, the staff and yourself.
 
3.      Carefully attend to the children at all times.
 
4.      Do not accept children at all times.
 
5.      Admit no unauthorized person in your room. Safety is a priority.
 
6.      Do not allow older children in your room unless they are a peer leader.
 
7.      If a question of emergency should come up or a parent is needed, contact your coordinator, superintendent, or director. Never take a crying or sick child into the sanctuary to look for their parents.
      
8.      Children are a gift from God. Enjoy your time with them. Get to know them. Build a relationship with them.
 
9.      Always help maintain a safe, controlled environment. ( No running, shouting, etc…. indoors).
 
10.   Set a good example for the children to follow.
 
11.    Participate in class activities (singing, dancing, stories, activities, etc.).
 
12.   Volunteers will mandate the sign in process at the welcome table 15 minutes prior to worship service until the announcement period is finished. Each parent will receive a ticket when signing their children in and will need the ticket to pick their children up after service.
 
13.   Must adhere to the Safe Sanctuary procedures and policies.
 
14.   Be careful in response to questions. Make sure conversations are appropriate (stay focused on who we serve in our responses).
